Safeguarding Policy

Key details

  • Policy prepared by: Gina Johnson

  • Approved by committee on: 20/4/2023

  • Next review date: 20/4/2028

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Polymnia commits to making appropriate arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of any children and vulnerable adults who are members or with whom we come into contact, for example through our audience. Polymnia aims to ensure that no act or omission on the part of the choir, or that of its members, puts a child, young person or vulnerable adult inadvertently at risk; and that systems are in place to proactively safeguard and promote the welfare of all members.

A named member of the choir committee (Gina Johnson) is responsible for ensuring that up-to-date legislation and relevant policy and procedures are adhered to by the choir. The same named member the committee will review the safeguarding policy at least annually to ensure it remains in line with legislation and local/national safeguarding guidance.

In the event of a young person aged under 18 years joining the choir, they and their parents will be made aware of this policy.

Choir members should:

  • treat all children and young people with respect and dignity

  • when with children, aim to be within sight of another adult

  • obtain consent for any photographs/videos of children to be taken, shown or displayed

  • share any concerns about a child, or the relevant behaviour of another adult, with a member of the Committee
